I have always been the observer.

I also seem to be the person strangers tell their deepest things to. This project gives me a reason to keep listening.

Rylee Louisa

The world should remain larger than me.

I am a queer photographer and filmmaker interested in people, place, and change.

I care about what people communicate before they know how to say it, the rooms that explain them, and the ordinary evidence that a life happened. At nineteen, I lived in Central America for ninety days with strangers and learned that my camera could be useful—not just expressive. That understanding still shapes the work.

This project includes my perspective, choices, mistakes, and body moving through the country. But it is not “watch me live my best life.” The point is to participate in a world much larger than my own image.
